| Public Policy & International Affairs Summer Institute | No citizenship requirements. Check eligibility requirements for particular summer institutes. The PPIA Junior Summer Institutes are fully-funded, rigorous academic fellowship programs that provide training and financial support for graduate school and facilitate ongoing professional development. All JSIs include curriculum on economics, statistics, domestic/international policy issues, and leadership topics. Students should apply for as many of the 5 JSI as possible. | Early November |
| Critical Language Scholarship Program | Open to US citizens. Summer intensive language study (typically in host country, living with a host family): Languages: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese Punjabi, Russian, Swahili, Turkish and Urdu. Some languages require previous language study/knowledge which may be obtained by self-directed study by uptake of award. | Early-Mid November |
| Critical Language Scholarship SPARK Program | US citizenship required. Opportunity to study Russian, Chinese or Arabic throughout the academic year through online classes and activities. | Goldwater Scholarship | Eligibility: US citizens, permanent residents, and US nationals are eligible. Applicants must aspire to pursue a STEM research career in a natural science, mathematics or engineering. | *Mid December |

| Truman Scholarship | US citizenship or nationals from American Samoa are eligible. Scholarship provides up to $30K for graduate/professional study anywhere in the world. Applicants from all fields of study with an extensive record of public and community service as well as outstanding leadership potential are encouraged to apply | *Mid December |
| Boren STEM Scholarship | US citizenship required. Open to STEM students to spend a summer or longer in a non-Western country. Study abroad must include language intensive instruction. | *Mid December |
| Beinecke Scholarship | US citizenship required. Funds graduate study anywhere world-wide in the social sciences, arts or humanities. | *Mid January |
| Udall Scholarship | US citizens, and/or Native Americans, Alaskan Natives and First Nations of Canada students are eligible for the environmental concerns program. Native Americans, Alaskan Natives and First Nations of Canada students may apply for tribal policy or Native health care concerns programs. | *Late January |
| Humanity in Action | No citizenship requirements. Fellows spend a month (June or July) in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland or the US (Atlanta) working as a team alongside civic leaders addressing humanitarian issues relevant to a particular locale. Programs include seminars, workshops and project based work. | Early January |
| Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program | US citizenship required. This 6 week summer program provides students with a deeper appreciation of current issues and trends in international affairs and a greater understanding of career opportunities in international affairs. | Early February |
| Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest | No citizenship requirements. Essays can be on any topic as long as it deals with ethical issues. Website provides samples of previous winning essays. | Mid January |
| Gilman International Scholarship | US citizens who are Pell Grant recipients may apply to spend a summer, interim, semester or year of at least 3 weeks duration abroad. | *Campus deadlines & application instructions available through Study Abroad Office |
| Freeman Asia Program | US citizens/permanent residents with financial need. Spend a summer, semester or year studying in Asia (Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and/or Vietnam. | *Campus deadlines & application instructions available through Study Abroad Office |

| Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship | US citizens entering junior year. Enrolled in a IT relevant major. Must commit to 5 years with the Foreign Service upon completion of master’s degree in an IT-related program in the US. | Late January |
| National Science Foundation-Research Experience for Undergrads (NSF-REU) | Like doing summer EXCEL research in STEM and Social Sciences but at other institutions in the US. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident of the US. REU research could take place in the US or abroad. | Amgen | Summer research opportunities at various STEM institutions in the US; must be US citizen or permanent resident; interested in pursuing a PhD or MD-PhD, 3.2+ GPA. | Late January |
| Voyager Scholarship | US citizens, US Permanent Residents, DACA. Provides 2 years of financial assistance, a summer self-designed travel experience, 10 years of postgraduate travel funding, + other benefits. To pursue a career in public service. | Mid June |
